2 Figure 1 Doubling of serum creatinine within a certain time interval prior to the start of treatment in antiproteinase-3 (anti-PR3; ▪, N = 38) and antimyeloperoxidase (anti-MPO)–positive (, N = 31) patients with renal involvement. The numbers on top of the bars denote the percentage of the total number of patients with that particular antibody. 4 Figure 2 Superoxide release measured by ferricytochrome c reduction using tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α)–primed neutrophils from a healthy donor. Neutrophils were stimulated with immunoglobulin G fractions from anti-PR3 (▪, N = 17) and anti-MPO–positive patients (▵, N = 14) and from healthy controls (•, N = 16). Immunoglobulin G fractions from the ANCA-positive patients were obtained during active vasculitis prior to the start of immunosuppressive treatment. Data are mean values ± SEM. The dashed line indicates the release of reactive oxygen radicals induced by fMLP. Reprinted from Franssen et al122; used with permission from the American Society of Nephrology.
