Reception
We are split into 2 classes – North and Corbett but we share the same large space but have 2 separate carpet areas.
We have free flow into our brand new outdoor area which again both classes share.
We take part in daily collective worship either as a whole school or as a phase
We have our own curriculum that is very different to the National Curriculum.
Your child’s day will consist of daily Literacy, Maths and Phonics sessions as well as continuous access to all the areas of Learning included in our curriculum

3. Parent Meeting to follow in September
The Foundation Stage Curriculum
Prime Areas:
• Communication and Language
• Personal, Social and Emotional Development
• Physical Development
Specific Areas:
• Literacy
• Mathematics
• Understanding the World
• Expressive Arts and Design
These are areas that include developing specific skills and knowledge. Both the Prime and Specific areas will be taught through
• Playing and exploring
• Active Learning
• Creating and thinking critically
These are areas that children develop quickly in response to relationships and experience. Opportunities to access these areas run throughout our environment and support children’s learning in all other areas.

Birthdays at Eltham
We will help you to celebrate your child’s birthday but… we ask that you do not send in sweets, cakes or party bags.
You don’t have to send anything in, we will make them feel special that day…but should you want to, somethings that have worked in the past and are in tune to our Healthy School status are:
Variety of fruit
One book for the whole class to enjoy and keep.
Creative supplies for our Creative Table i.e. pipe cleaners, craft paper etc..

5. How you can prepare them for September?
We only ask that your child is happy and confident to come to Eltham C of E.
Therefore from September we would ask that you say good bye to your child at the classroom door. We have found that going into the class room can unsettling the children and actually to them once you’ve entered it’s even more difficult to leave them.
“in Loco Parentis” - we stand by this as part of our ethos. We will comfort them and make sure they are ok.

During these meetings EYFS staff will look after the children in North and Corbett. Ideally please come without younger siblings.
