Write the coefficients of the dividend in standard form. Write the related zero c of the divisor x-c in the box. Bring down the first coefficient.
Multiply the first coefficient by c. Write the product under the second coefficient.
Add the product and the second coefficient.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you reach the sum in the last column. The numbers along the bottom row are the coefficients of the quotient. The power of the first term is one less than the degree of the dividend. The final number is the remainder.
