1 Evaluation and prediction of urea rebound and equilibrated Kt/V in the pediatric hemodialysis population  Stuart L. Goldstein, MD, Jonathan M. Sorof, MD, Eileen D. 2 Fig 1 Logarithmic regression curve derived using 30-second, 5-minute, and 15-minute measured postdialysis BUN values. Mean percentage of urea rebound = – log(t), where t is posttreatment time in minutes (r = 0.79). Solving this equation for 15 and 50 minutes yields a mean percentage of urea rebound of 12.6% and 18.3%, respectively. Urea rebound is 69% complete (REB15 ) at 15 minutes ([12.6/18.3]*100). 3 Fig 2 Line plot depicting the actual %UR for six treatments in six pediatric patients. %UR was determined from measured BUN levels drawn at 30 seconds and every 10 minutes up to 1 hour after a hemodialysis treatment. Rebound is complete by 50 minutes in all patients. American Journal of Kidney Diseases  , 49-54DOI: ( /S (99) ) Copyright © 1999 National Kidney Foundation, Inc Terms and Conditions
