2 68-29 DO NOW: (No calculators, pencils, talking or air writing)
Take out your packet Solve using mental math (No calculators, pencils, talking or air writing) 3. You will have 2 minutes to get this done 68-29

3 Objective(S): I will be able to: -use the order of operations
So I can: evaluate numerical expressions. I will demonstrate my understanding by solving at least 6 out of the 9 whiteboard expressions 6.EE.A.2c

4 Language Objective By the end of the lesson, students will be able to use the language domains of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Students will listen to the mini-lesson as well as the oral discussion between their partners on how to create expressions with parentheses. They will also read the appropriate problems and use order of operations to evaluate numerical expressions by writing the solution on their whiteboards. Academic Math Language Vocabulary: Order of operation, operation, expressions, inverse, opposite, multiplication , division, addition, subtraction, evaluate.

5 Write your answer on your whiteboard
Evaluate 3 + 4 x 2 Write your answer on your whiteboard

6 The rules we follow… Multiplication and division from left to right.
Addition and division from left to right.
