6 Why study a language? Nearly half of British companies are having problems dealing with the international aspects of their business. Only 11% of them have a strategy to solve the problems. 20% of companies know that they have lost business as a result of language barriers. Companies who value language skills make more money!

10 SECRETARIAL WORK SECRETARIES DON’T JUST TYPE! Bilingual secretaries:
work for more important people earn much more money have much more interesting jobs can often travel abroad

11 FINANCE 10 – 15% OF LANGUAGE JOBS ARE IN THE FINANCIAL SECTOR.
Many British banks have foreign offices. Many foreign banks own British ones.

12 CHILD CARE DON’T JUST SET YOUR SIGHTS ON YOUR LOCAL NURSER
Many tour operators have in resort child care centres You could go and live with a family abroad.

13 ICT LOTS OF MONEY TO BE MADE HERE!
Big companies develop programmes to be used all over the world. They need people to provide technical support everywhere, not just in the UK If you are good at ICT and have language skills you are in great demand.

14 CATERING There are lots of chances to gain experience abroad while you are training. If you have no language skills, somebody else will be sent
