1 Point of view

2 1st person the narrator is a character in the story. If you were writing an essay about your summer vacation, it would be in the first person.

3 1st person For example: "I spent a lot of time at the beach, but I also read a lot of books." 

4 2nd person the narrator talks to the audience. The pronoun “you” is allowed in narration. We will not use this!

5 2nd person For example: “If you’re reading this book, you’re cool!”

6 3rd person limited We just call this 3rd person
the narrator can tell the thoughts and feelings of only the main character. All characters, even the main character, are described as "he," "she," or "it." (Harry Potter)

7 3rd person For example: "As Fred watched Ginger from across the room, he wondered whether he would ever talk to her." 

8 3rd person omniscient – the narrator can describe the innermost thoughts and feelings of more than one character. All characters are described as "he," "she," or "it."

9 3rd person omniscient For example – “As the teacher gave out the homework, the students looked it over. Janie thought it looked really hard, but Peter knew exactly what to do.”
