Early years Born on a farm in Richmond, New York on 8th July 1839
Rockefeller’s birth place Born on a farm in Richmond, New York on 8th July 1839 Grew up in conservative family trained to work hard, save and give His family moved to Owego in 1851, where he attended Owego Academy In 1853, his family moved to Strongsville,where he attended Cleveland's Central High School Then, he took a ten-week business course at Folsom's Commercial College, where he studied bookkeeping.

The road to the Business
Rockefeller had a job as a bookkeeper at Hewitt & Tuttle Rockefeller and his neighbour; opened their own groccery supply business called Clark & Rockefeller The peak of business was during the Civil War, when people needed food supplies Rockefeller and Clark business was very succesive due to Rockefeller’s business skill Young Rockefeller

The beginning of the Oil Era
After realizing that groccery isn’t going to take him far. He noticed potential oil gives and began to make his own rafinery He built rafinery on his own to ensure its efficiency and details to beat all the competition He exported most of his oil because of the demands in other parts of the World(World War, tank fuels, etc). Though he still had large internal business

Rockefeller and Flager partnership
Rockefeller really started his business when he partnered with Henry Flager. They both had similliar ambitions and saw big potential in oil. They used a few improvements to take over the industry. They: Built high quality and large rafineries using the best available materials. Were making their own barrels cutting it’s price by the half Owned their transport ( wagons, boats etc.) Were using their own refining chemicals and found way to recycle it Owned their own facilities (warehouses) Were first to use tank cars on the railroads they owned too Used and reused every part of oil that couln’t be sold Henry Flager

Standard Oil The Standard Oil Company was a trust of multiple companies(In simplication a group of corporations cooperating to obtain monopoly on market. Nowaday its forbidden in the most of countries) Rockefeller’s interest was to make oil market calm and less chaotic, he wanted to controll it . He was buying rafineries arround Claveland, then he closed the bad one or improve the others. Completely destroying the competition The Company had control of over 90% of oil by 1880s. It happened due to controlling the railroads and negotiating very good prices.

After business and Philanthropy
He retired from the business in 1897 at the age of 58 He built University of Chicago He started Rockefeller Institute for medical reaserch He donated 50,000,000 $ to schools after WWI He gave nearly $250 million to the foundation, which focused on public health, medical training, and the arts He donated most of his fortune on charities by the time he died Rockefeller died of arteriosclerosis on May 23, 1937, less than two months shy of his 98th birthday
