We have different verbs to describe driving. Circulando means driving when it is referring to a car, or traffic. El tráfico está circulando por la calle. The traffic is driving down the street. El carro está circulando a través del campo. The car is driving across the field. Manejando means driving when it refers to a person driving a car. Mi hermano está manejando mi carro. My brother is driving my car.

Spanish has the following words to describe different types of roads. Calle Autopista Carretera Callejón Camino Street Freeway Road Alley Road

La vía (track) is used with ferrocarril (railroad) and tren (train). Las personas están cruzando las vías del ferrocarril. The people are crossing the railroad tracks. El tren ha saltado de la vía. The train has jumped the track.

A través de (across) is a prepositional phrase, while cruzar (to cross) is a verb. Mi hermano maneja a través de la ciudad. My brother drives across town. El niño está cruzando la calle. The child is crossing the street.
