1. Call Duration Control with Dynamic Pricing for Congestion Management in Cellular Networks
Problem:
Heavy Congestion in Cellular Networks at peak hours/hot spots due to heavy traffic conditions
Increase in the capacity is economically non viable as the system remains highly under-utilized at other times
Idea:
Introduction of the concept of restriction of call duration in heavy traffic condition to ensure fare utilization of resources
A user who wants to have unlimited access has to pay more than the normal rate
Implementation
Call duration control can be achieved either by
1. Restriction of new calls under heavy traffic conditions
to a fixed duration (say 2 min.) [Scheme 1] or by
2. Termination of the longest duration call with a proper
notice in advance (say 15 sec.) [Scheme 2]
Simulation results show a remarkable improvement in call
blocking probability
