April 2009 doc.: IEEE /xxxxr0 July 2010 Abstract This is a submission for comment resolution on D0.1 for comment #335. It provides a mechanism named as quieting adjacent BSS (QAB) to facilitate the coexistence of ad system with other systems operating on 60GHz band, such as c. April 2009 doc.: IEEE /xxxxr0 July 2010 Motivation has defined the procedure to quiet the operating channel so the channel can be tested for the presence of the interference This mechanism can be utilized to detect other systems operating on 60GHz band for the purpose of coexistence However according to the procedure, the involved STAs are confined inside the same BSS or IBSS. During the period when STAs in a certain BSS are quieted, STAs in an adjacent BSS may still be allowed to transmit As a consequence, in the quiet period which is supposed to be used to detect other systems, there might be signals from adjacent BSSs, which interfere the detection It is important to have a mechanism to guarantee the clearance of the quiet periods for detecting other systems Zhou Lan NICT Rich Kennedy, Research In Motion

Quieting Adjacent BSS (QAB) mechanism
April 2009 doc.: IEEE /xxxxr0 July 2010 Quieting Adjacent BSS (QAB) mechanism The purpose of the QAB is to guarantee a clear listen period that will not be used by STAs in the adjacent BSSs A QAB request is sent by an AP to one or multiple APs that are members of the other BSSs Upon receiving the request, an responder AP may schedule the quiet periods according to the request to synchronize quiet periods with the requester AP The responder AP received the request shall respond and indicate whether the QAB operation will be performed or not Zhou Lan NICT Rich Kennedy, Research In Motion
