By the end of the lesson you will: 1.Be able to describe a range of sensors. 2.Be able to explain possible uses for the sensors. 3.Be able to describe a range of control devices. Lesson Objectives

How is ICT involved in the image below...

Task 1 Draw a simple roller coaster in the front of your books similar to the one below. Spend no more than 5 minutes doing this. Mr Tracey ©

Challenge – Part 1 Terry the Manager of Tradi Theme Park is designing a new rollercoaster. He needs your help deciding where the following input/output devices can be used: – Thermostat- Motors – Pressure sensor- Buzzers – Light sensor- Heaters – Motion sensor- Lights/Lamps - Speakers In your teams decide how, where and why each device can be used. All devices must be used at least once. You will be asked to share your findings at the end of the lesson.

Challenge – Part 2 Summarise/combine your findings in the centre of your sheets. Once you are happy with the draft plan of the ride, write the summary in your books. For each device: -Where -How -Why

Plenary Share your ideas with the class. What have you learnt? How did you learn best today?

Homework On the sheet you have been given: Write a definition for the following keywords and where they can be used (not on a rollercoaster). – Thermostat- Motors – Pressure sensor- Buzzers – Light sensor- Heaters - Lights/Lamps
