This is a useful prompt to ensure that Reading is covered and taught effectively towards the month age band. This can be used for guided reading sessions or small adult led sessions.

2. What is happening in the beginning of the book?
What is the setting of the story?
How is the character feeling? Why do you think this?
What do you think will happen next? Why do you think this?
Why did the character do what they did?
Do you agree with what happened? Why?

3. How does the setting make you feel?
Describe what you can see on the front cover. What do you think the book is about?
Can you describe the character?
Who is your favourite character? Why?
What is happening in the end of the book?
What is happening in the middle of the book?

4. Did the story end how you thought it would?
How did the book make you feel?
What was your favourite part of the story?
Can you describe what is happening in the picture?
How did the character make you feel?
What would you do?
