1. County Unit System
Georgia has 159 Counties – more than any other state east of the Mississippi River.
Under the County Unit System, every county received 3 County Unit Votes.
Which ever candidate won an election, he got all of the County Unit Votes for the County
This means that NO MATTER THE SIZE OF THE POPULATION, ALL COUNTIES GOT THE SAM # OF VOTES
There were more people in the Urban area counties (Like Fulton), but there were more Rural counties throughout the entire state
This means that the RURAL COUNTIES benefitted from the County Unit System and had more voting power than the Urban areas
