2 The Original Ohio Constitution (1803)
General Assembly was the preeminent branch of the Constitution Key judicial and executive officers were appointed by the GA (not elected by the people) Governor had few specific powers Ohio Supreme Court required to meet once each year in every county Difficult to meet those obligations Additionally, the state faced a heavy debt burden

Major executive officials and ALL judges elected by popular vote GA could not enact retroactive laws and all laws of a general nature must be uniform District courts added Instituted debt limitations, banned poll taxes, and required tax funds only be used for stated purpose Still in effect today, though it has been amended numerous times
