2.) What notable differences from the text do you remember from the first viewing of the movie? How do they affect the story?

1.) Do Now: Answer one or both questions, turn and talk with your tablemates. Captains will prepare to share with the class.
2.) Mini-Lesson: Together we will watch the 1996 adaptation of Romeo and Juliet and comparing it to Shakespeare’s text. Looking at both will help us better understand the play.
4.) Reflection: How does watching a modern interpretation with extravagant parties, modern cars, guns, and drugs affect your understanding of a play written hundreds of years ago? Does it still retain its original themes and feelings?
