1 An analysis of the potential impact of computed tomographic colonography (virtual colonoscopy) on colonoscopy demand  Chin Hur, G. Scott Gazelle, Michael E. Zalis, Daniel K. 2 Figure 1 These 2 sensitivity analyses examine the effect of varying the change in population compliance that implementation of CTC will have on colonoscopy demand using 2 CTC positive test rates that were derived using differing polyp size thresholds (6 mm, 24.9%; 10 mm, 7.0%). The vertical line highlights a 15% increase (40% to 55%) or the base-case estimate of the change in population compliance that would be expected with implementation of CTC. Only the sensitivity analysis using a polyp size cutoff of 6 mm has a threshold (ie, a level that, when exceeded, would lead to an increase in colonoscopy demand). Specifically, implementation of CTC would lead to an increase in colonoscopy demand if population compliance improves by more than 36.9% (increase from 40% to 76.9%).
