1 Fact or Opinion? You be the judge!

2 What is a fact? What is an opinion? How do you tell the difference?

3 Get out a piece of paper. Put your name at the top and number it down the left side, 1 through 12.
I will give you a minute to read through each statement. Write “Fact” or “Opinion” next to the number depending on what you think it is.

7 Bias a particular tendency or inclination, especially one that prevents unprejudiced consideration of a question; prejudice. All Media is supposed to be unbiased. What does that mean? Is the media that way?

8 Assignment Mrs. Cox is going to give you a newspaper. Find an opinion article. (HINT: Find the EDITORIAL section). Read the article. Summarize the article. Make sure you include the author’s claim (what is their opinion?), and the support they give for their claim. Is it biased? If so, towards what side? 
