4 Context – latest data release
   The DfE released autumn term data in May 2018 confirming that Nottingham City’s overall absence rate for the autumn term has decreased year on year where nationally there has been no change. In England PAs have increased from 11.4% to 11.5%. The most common form of absence remains illness which represented just under half (46.7%) of all sessions missed.  The second highest absence reason is other unauthorised circumstances which is 26% for Nottingham, 15.7% for England (both Nottingham and England have seen an increase for absence in this category).  Family holiday not agreed is 11.8% for Nottingham Primary (10.5% England) and 7.2% for Nottingham Secondary (4.9% England).
