MBP IPA 2014: Grant agreements signed with all 4 beneficiaries; Service contract – expected signature – end October 2015 MBP IPA 2015: Programme adopted by the European Commission in July 2015 – total amount of 16 MEUR; Work ongoing on the project descriptions.

Two options for the next MBP IPA programmes:
two big programmes of 16 MEUR in 2017 and 2019 each; one big programme of 16 MEUR in 2017 and two 8 MEUR programmes in 2019 and 2020. Questions: Which option do countries prefer? What other options could be envisaged and why?

Challenges in the implementation of latest MBP IPA programmes
Grant beneficiaries: Accurate and timely reporting – saves resources on both sides and speeds up payments; Recurrent substantial and formal errors: - poor quality content; - inconsistencies, omissions and inaccurate templates The role of the International Cooperation Departments (ICDs) in ensuring good quality reports

Service contract beneficiaries:
ICD's role of: monitoring; raising awareness; proactive informing. ICD's coordination role in relation to the participation of other national authorities. Responsibilities at NSI experts' level when participating in events

Lessons learnt in the contracting procedure of MBP IPA 2014
The regional approach in the grant applications; The number of projects proposed and the budget available; Review of formal elements of applications.
