(A–D) RNA extraction from mammalian cells that preserves native complexes can be conjugated with subsequent RNase treatment to yield a deeper knowledge of ncRNA function. The green background indicates the technology in the current work (Wan et al., 2012), whereas future applications are highlighted with beige shades. Modification of PARTE is potentially suitable to study by sequencing a broad range of interactions. ncRNA not interacting directly with proteins is shown in (A). The technology can be subjected to further future development, to protect RNA structure bound by protein, with different temperature sensitivity (B–D). Also shown are ncRNA interacting with proteins by the loop structure (B), mRNA interacting with PABP (poly(A)-binding proteins) (C), and ncRNA interacting with proteins by the stem structure (D).
