4 Steps: Foreign bacteria is joined to plasmid Some plasmids are taken in by the bacteria -Transformation Treat culture with antibiotic (normally kills bacteria) Transformed bacteria (contain plasmid) will survive Why? They have the gene (marker) for resistance
