Technique of slow deployment of Gore Excluder endograft improves accuracy of placement
David J. Minion, MD, Christian C. Rodriguez, MD, Erin M. Moore, MD, Donald E. Patterson, MD, Eric D. Endean, MD Journal of Vascular Surgery Volume 43, Issue 4, Pages (April 2006) DOI: /j.jvs Copyright © 2006 The Society for Vascular Surgery Terms and Conditions

Fig 1 The Gore Excluder deploys by releasing a seam that usually corresponds to the contralateral limb. Consequently, this results in an asymmetric flowering of the graft with a “drop” or “tilt” of the graft towards the contralateral limb. Fig 2 Slow deployment technique. A, The graft is usually positioned slightly cranial to the target, preferably with the contralateral limb on the side of the lowest renal artery. B, The graft flowers asymmetrically as the deployment knob is pulled slowly. C, The graft is promptly positioned to flush with the lowest renal as confirmed by puff angiography. Slow deployment continues until the contralateral gate is released, at which time further adjustments are usually not possible. D, The initial graft tilt will often substantially right itself upon full deployment.
