Endocrine System Functions of the endocrine system:
Help regulate and coordinate body systems.

Endocrine System Hormones - chemical messengers manufactured in glands throughout the body Endocrine glands release hormones directly into the blood because they are tissue specific. The body doesn’t react as quickly to the messages from the endocrine system as it does from those of the nervous system.

The Endocrine System The endocrine system consists of many diverse glands and organs.

Endocrine Glands The pituitary gland produces hormones that affect growth and reproduction. Often called the “Master Gland”

Endocrine Glands The thyroid gland regulates your metabolic rate (converting food to energy). The adrenal glands on top of each kidneys make adrenaline to help your body to adapt to physical and emotional stress.

Reproductive Glands The male testes produce testosterone.
The female ovaries produce estrogen and progesterone. These hormones regulate the female reproductive cycle and are responsible for producing and maintaining female sex characteristics.
