Used when someone wants to affect the actions and behavior of other people
Enrique quiere que salgamos a cenar.
Paola prefiere que cenemos en casa.
This is VERY similar to impersonal expressions used with the subjunctive, sucn as es necesario que, es importante que, es mejor que, and es urgente que.

Verbs of will or influence commonly used with the subjunctive: desear-to desire
querer (e->ie)-to want
insistir-to insist
recomendar (e->ie)-to recommend
sugerir (e->ie)-to suggest
preferir-to prefer

3. 3 Part Formula for using the subjunctive with verbs of will or influence:

4. -Only use the subjunctive if there is a change of subject in the sentence.
-The reason you use the subjunctive with this sort of sentence construction is because you don’t know for sure whether the person/people in the subordinate clause will follow through with the the recommendation of the person/people in the main clause.
-Subjunctive is used to express uncertainty. There is no subjunctive tense in English.

5. Subjunctive with verbs of will and influence
Example sentences
Quiero que estudies. Recomiendo que barran el suelo.
I want you to study. I recommend that you sweep the floor.
Sugiero que vaya a la casa.
I suggest that he go home.

6. Subjunctive with verbs of will and influence
The subjunctive is not used when there is no change of subject in the sentence.
No quiero sacudir los muebles.
Paco prefiere descansar.
Es importante sacar la basura.
Es necesario quitar la mesa.
