Ancient China ABC Book By: Aaron Li

A is for acupuncture. Acupuncture is when people stick needles into the skin for treatments for frozen shoulders and other things. This was a very good achievement that is still used today.

B is for Buddhism Buddhism was taken to China from India. It became China’s 3rd philosophy. It was from the Silk Road.

C is for Confucius Confucius was a great philosopher who created Confucianism, which was basically like the Golden Rule.

D is for desert. Traders on the Silk Road had to go through the fearsome Taklamakan Desert.

E is for exist. No one could find out if the Xia Dynasty existed. Archeologist may have found it, though.

F is for Filial Piety. Confucius believed that you should always obey and respect your parents. This was called Filial Piety.

G is for gunpowder. The Chinese first used gunpowder for fireworks until they found out it could be used in war.

H is for Han Dynasty Liu Bang, The first emperor of the Han Dynasty, took his army and created the Han Dynasty by conquering the Chin.

I is for iron. Iron was invented by the Chinese people and was a huge achievement.

J is for Jade. Jade was very important to the Chinese. The Shang made the first Jade artifact.

K is for King Wen. King Wen is honored for founding the Zhou dynasty, even though it was his son that conquered the Shang.

L is for Liu Bang. Liu Bang was the first emperor of the Han dynasty. He was a pheasant until he led a bunch of his fellow pheasants to destroy the Qin.

M is for Marco Polo Marco Polo was an Italian explorer that went on the Silk Road to get to China.

N is for Naive. Naive and stupid people would not be able to be in the ancient Han Government. This government was based on how smart you were.

O is for Obsessed Emperor Shi Huangdi was obsessed with the idea of immortality because 3 assassinations were attempted on his life.

P is for paper. The Chinese invented paper by finding a type of hard plant and flattening it.

Q is for Qin Dynasty The Qin Dynasty didn’t last for long, but it made the name China for China. The Terracotta Warriors were made by the Qin dynasty.

R is for River. One of the most important rivers in China is Huang He, or the Yellow River.

S is for Shang Dynasty The Shang were the 2nd dynasty of China, they were the people who overthrew the Xia.

T is for Terracotta Soldiers.
The Terracotta soldiers were at the tomb of the Qin emperor because he thought they could protect him after he died.

U is for Universal Coinage
U is for Universal Coinage. The Qin invented universal coinage so everyone would have the same type of money.

V is for Vast. The Himalayan Mountain were Vast and made it a hard obstacle to cross.

W is for Emperor Wu. Emperor Wu supposedly was son of King Wen
W is for Emperor Wu. Emperor Wu supposedly was son of King Wen. He was also the Zhou Dynasty’s first emperor to respect heaven.

X is for Xia Dynasty No one could prove the Xia existed. The Chinese only said they were there.

Y is for Yellow River. The Yellow River was called the cradle of China, because it helped found it with its floods.

Z is for Zhou Dynasty. The Zhou was the longest lasting dynasty in China. It was founded by King Wen, who is in the background picture.
