1 Geologic time scale

2 Climate shift and species movement

3 The Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA)
-is one of two major federal pesticide statutes which the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is responsible for implementing. -FIFRA governs the sale and use of pesticide products within the United States.

4 Suburban sprawl and urbanization

5 Remediation, mitigation, restoration
Restoration: trying to return to a condition as similar as possible to original state. Environmental remediation deals with the removal of pollution or contaminants from environmental media such as soil, groundwater, sediment, or surface water for the general protection of human health and the environment or from a brownfield site intended for redevelopment Environmental mitigation, compensatory mitigation, or mitigation banking, are terms used primarily by the United States government and the related environmental industry to describe projects or programs intended to offset known impacts to an existing historic or natural resource such as a stream, wetland, endangered species, archeological site or historic structure.

6 Smart growth And Green spaces
Smart growth is an urban planning and transportation theory that concentrates growth in compact walkable urban centers to avoid sprawl and advocates compact, transit-oriented, walkable, bicycle-friendly land use, including neighborhood schools, complete streets, and mixed-use development with a range of housing choices. green space: green spaces, plural An area of grass, trees, or other vegetation set apart for recreational or aesthetic purposes in an otherwise urban environment

7 Noise pollution Noise pollution is excessive, displeasing human, animal or machine-created environmental noise that disrupts the activity or balance of human or animal life. Noise health effects are both health and behavioral in nature. The unwanted sound is called noise. This unwanted sound can damage physiological and psychological health. Noise pollution can cause annoyance and aggression, hypertension, high stress levels, tinnitus, hearing loss, sleep disturbances, and other harmful effects. Furthermore, stress and hypertension are the leading causes to health problems, whereas tinnitus can lead to forgetfulness, severe depression and at times panic attacks.

8 GLOBAL WARMING and OZONE DEPLETION WATCH EACH VIDEO TO THE END!!!!!!!!

9 Look up “cost-benefit analysis” in your book and be sure you understand what it means, also look up “externalities” and “marginal costs” to see what these terms mean.
