2 Location Of Industry Manufacturing areas are located within the inner-city. They are also located along major routeways and in industrial suburbs. Industries found in cities usually include skilled labour, medical instruments, fashion accessories and clothes, newspapers etc. Port industries.

3 Attraction Of Larger Cities
Capital cities are the largest manufacturing centres of the nation. Cities are large markets. Port cities have excellent access to international markets. Cities are major centres of innovation, ideas and fashion. A variety of labour is readily available, including skilled and unskilled workers, decision-makers and innovators.

4 CBD This is the commercial and economic core of cities.
It is located in the heart of the city. It is the area most accessible to public transport and has the highest land values. It has many features including internal zoning.

5 Characteristics Parking. Transport Terminals. Wholesalers/Warehouses.
Small Shops. Concentration of Banks/Businesses. Offices. Department/Chain Stores. Car Sales/Services. Medical/Fire Services.

6 Decline Of CBD Cost of development. Investment and planning.
Urban sprawl. Councils. City centres stigmas. Out of town developments. Rent and land costs.

7 Activity Using A2 Geography P220-225, answer the following…
Explain the causes of the decline of businesses in the CBD’s of cities. Include the disadvantages of the CBD location aswell as the advantages of the out-of-town location. With the aid of examples, describe the impact of decline in the CBD’s of cities.
