PowerPoint is for making high quality presentations. Business people use it and also many people who want to present a clear message use it.

3 Getting Started Presentations are used in various organisation to reinforce messages using visuals. Presentations are made up of slides. To make them more effective you can you build, transition, animations, sound and video.

4 Creating a presentation
You can create a blank presentation, one with the colours etc. set up already, called a template, or open a presentation that is existing or already there. Select blank to begin. To add text just click on the box and then type. You can also move the boxes around the slide, you can click and drag them to make them fit. Insert clip art to add pictures. To create a new slide click insert new slide. There are different types of slides. You can get ones with title and then a lower big box of bullet points, you can get a title slide with the lower box giving you an option of multimedia such as videos, pics etc. Highlight all the text and then click button for bullet points to get a variety of bullet point types. 5 Master slides Go into view and click master slide. Here you edit what you want and put in the formatting effects that will be applied to all slides once it is applied here first. You also have a title master, a notes master and a hand-out master. For logos, text size, pics to be the same on all slides. Click view, then header and footer to put in the date or page number at the very bottom of the slides. Insert then click clip art or picture

6 Save , Close, Open Ctrl + S to save shortcut. Save as .ppt file otherwise known as PowerPoint file.

7 Slide Shows Slide view shows individual slides
Outline see overall slides Slide sorter small scale of the slides Notes view space for speaker notes Slide show, starts the presentation Slide meter when you right click shows the speed of the presentation

8 Slide transitions Effect and timing. Click slide show then slide transition and chose an option.

9 Rearranging slides Click on view. Go to slide outline on the bottom left of your screen with four squares in the icon. Click and drag to move and rearrange slide Or go to slide sorter. Click ctrl key and drag slide and this will auto make a copy. In outline view you can more clearly see all the slide and click and drag here too. Toolbar on the left when in outline view allows us to move points and slides up and down

11 PowerPoint part 2 Transition continued
You can get slides to fly in automatically or on your click. On the click is easier to manage during a presentation but if you wanted say pictures to come up at a couples wedding the auto feature would work well.

12 Animation To get the text and graphics to come in a different times and angles Highlight and select the point in your slide and then click animation. You can do this from the master slide and apply it to all slides

13 Alignment and change case
Click format and then alignment to get text to shift to the left for e.g.. To change from capitals to small click. Highlight text then click format and change case. Line spacing: click format then line spacing to create the amount of space you want between lines and paragraphs. To create word art click on the drawing toolbar or insert picture to find and then insert.

14 Ruler Click view and then ruler to create lists. Select the text
L aligns to the left + aligns on a number Tools and click spelling to do spell checks.

15 Colors and backgrounds
Go to format and then slide color scheme. Click apply to all. Or click custom and make your own color. Background designs: Click format and then apply design, e.g. click fireball click apply.

16 Hidden slides and Numbering
In the slide show menu click hide slide. Click semi transparent button at the bottom left of slide in slide sorter Select go and then hidden to display hidden slides Also you can right click. Select slide navigator. Number of hidden slides come up in brackets. Double click the number of the hidden slide you want to display To number slides click view and then headers and footers, click slide number box. Apply to all. Same for date

Insert picture , clip art, and select picture Right click the picture, choose format picture and resize picture Drag the picture into the right position and click view normal 13/05/2019

18 Rotating objects First insert auto shape, the click on that object
Right click on the object and click rotate or flip To flip an object Chose flip horizontal or vertical 13/05/2019

19 Common test errors for ECDL
To create new blank presentations click new on the standard toolbar. To show formatting toolbar click View, toolbars, formatting For quick editing go to outline tab To remove an image from all slides go to the slide master and delete. To insert a column to the right, highlight the column next to it and right click then click insert column to the right.

20 continued Organization charts are found when you click on insert slide and then scroll down to the bottom right of screen. To add extra boxes right click on a box and add. To move object cut and paste using right click To flip an arrow go to the drawing toolbar on bottom left and click draw, then click flip

21 continued To center an oval horizontally click drawing toolbar then align, then distribute Shadow effect is on the right of the drawing toolbar. To add notes to exercise just be in normal view and click where it says add notes. To see chart menu double click chart and then click chart options for data labels Good practice is to number lists

22 To change user information go to tools menu then options then general

25 Project/Assessment Make your own PowerPoint presentations using the information in these slides to reinforce your learning. This is part of your yearly assessment plan and will be communicated to parents. Rewards for the best projects at year end. They can be as fancy and creative as you like but the writing must be clear so that it can be read by students when you’re presenting your work to your class mates. You will be assessed on Communication skills. Content and skills learned on PowerPoint. 3 min presentations on a timer and you’ll loose marks if you’re under or over time.
