We will cover the information similar to tonight, but individualized for each junior. Each conference is 30 minutes long We will review the classes you have chosen for next year, and we will help fit your interests and future plans with senior courses.

College Admissions Tests- Needed for four year schools. Juniors took the PSAT in October of sophomore and junior year. SAT’s ACT’s Juniors – Spring Seniors – Fall ACT offered at AHS Feb 9th SAT offered at AHS May 22nd SAT offered at AHS August 24th *Selective Schools – SAT Subject Tests

Register with NCAA Clearinghouse. If you are planning on playing sports in college, you must register through the NCAA clearinghouse the spring of your junior year. For NCAA Go to to register.

If you have your heart set on a particular school and are not admitted as a freshman, you have other options: Community college for 2 years, then meet transfer criteria (articulation agreements at certain ones) “Branch” school (UT San Antonio, Blinn ) specified hours and GPA will guarantee admission – this may only apply for certain colleges within the university.

Narrow your college search, note deadlines and check college admission criteria FOUR OR MORE Visit colleges – 2 days per year for an excused absence Write admissions essay in English class. Sign up for SAT and/or ACT Determine which teachers you will ask to write your recommendation letters

If planning to attend a two-year college before transferring to a four-year college, you will apply online in April of your senior year. For 2 year Texas colleges, apply at SAT/ACT not required for two-year colleges

23 College Visits Call the school for an appointment
Check web for Preview Days Go when students are in session if at all possible Bring a list of questions Bring back paper documentation from the school and turn it in to the attendance office. Two days of college visits are allowed. See college reps during lunch visits

24 Financial Aid AHS will have a Financial Aid Night during fall of the student’s senior year. Apply for parent and student FAFSA PIN number at in the fall. Complete the application after OCT 1st of senior year.
