Sioux Mission Project Construction of a Life Skill Center

2 Current Status of the Pine Ridge Reservation
The Indian Reservation is the second largest in the USA 11,000 sq miles 35% of the population under 18 70% school drop out rate 85% unemployment 97% below poverty level 150% teen suicide rate above the national average Infant mortality 300% higher then the national average

3 Current Status Gus and Terry Craven are AG Missionaries to the Oglala Sioux Pastor Gus started a mission called Eagle Nest in Wanblee, SD They also have the Glory Ranch where they minister to the families on the reservation

5 Life Skill Center Pastor Gus would like to build a Life Skill Center at the Glory Ranch Train adults on life skills: Carpentry Plumbing Computers Skills Welding Auto mechanics Allowing them to enter the work force and provide for their families. This project will change the lives of many families on the Reservation, bring hope where there is none. Christian based MAPS and Retired personnel would conduct the training and provide required tools. Trainers will provide life skills and at the same time be a witness for Christ.

8 Life Skill Center Design
John Lee a Contractor designed the center It would be located within an existing building on the Glory Ranch The center would be an enclosed 32’ x 16’ room. A proposal was developed and presented to the Rocky Mountain District. The project was approved

9 Location of the Life Skill Center

10 Proposed Construction Date
Proposed Construction Dates will be determined once all the funds are received for Phase 1. This weekend construction date will be approved by both Pastor Gus and the District. Phase 2 will be a separate weekend This trip would be open to both Men and Woman as they would be staying at two facilities.

11 Construction FCF personnel and Native Americans would be used in the construction Material will be purchased from Home Depot Canon City, CO. No tax and John Lee receives a discount Material will be transported via flat bed trailers to the Reservation Total Material Cost Phase 1 $1,931.56

12 Raising Funds Each of the seven Sections within the Rocky Mountain District will be asked to raise $276 Any additional funds received will go for Phase 2 scheduled for 2019 Additional $175 per Section See Proposal for details Suggested Methods used for Raising Funds: Contact Churches within your Section Contact Local Mission Coordinators Do a short presentation on Mission Sunday
