Big6 The Big6 is a process model of how people of all ages solve an information problem. Michael B. Eisenberg and Robert E. Berkowitz (1987) 2

Big6 3
4
Define the information problem
1. Task Definition Define the information problem Identify information needed (to solve the information problem) What is my current task? What are some topics or questions I need to answer? What information will I need? 4
5
2. Information Seeking Strategies
Determine all possible sources (brainstorm) Select the best sources What are all the possible sources to check? What are the best sources of information for this task? 5
6
3. Location and Access Locate sources (intellectually and physically)
Find information within sources Where can I find these sources? Where can I find the information in the source? 6
7
Engage (e.g., read, hear, view, touch) Extract relevant information
4. Use of Information Engage (e.g., read, hear, view, touch) Extract relevant information What information do I expect to find in this source? What information from the source is useful? 7
8
Organize from multiple sources Present the information
5. Synthesis Organize from multiple sources Present the information How will I organize my information? How should I present my information? 8
9
Judge the product (effectiveness) Judge the process (efficiency)
6. Evaluation Judge the product (effectiveness) Judge the process (efficiency) Did I do what was required? Did I complete each of the Big6 Stages efficiently? 9

The WebQuest An inquiry-oriented activity in which some or all of the information that students interact with cpmes from resources on the Internet Bernie Dodge (1995) 16
17
1. Introduction The introduction section provides background information and motivational scenarios 17
18
2. Task The task is a formal description of what students will have accomplished by the end of the WebQuest. 18
19
3. Process This is a description of the steps learners should go through in accomplishing the task, with links embedded in each step. 19
20
4. Resources This section of the WebQuest consists of a list of the resources (bookmarked Web sites, print resources, etc.) that your students will need to complete the task. 20
21
5. Evaluation Each WebQuest needs a rubric for evaluating students' work. The standards should be fair, clear, consistent, and specific to the tasks set. 21
22
6. Conclusion This step allows for reflection by the students and summation by the teacher. 22

The SixPack The Sixpack is a format for inquiry-oriented activities to develop research and information literacy skills Albert van der Kaap (2010) 23
24
The SixPack introduction 1. task 2. resources 3. acquire information
Evaluation And reflection 1. task 2. resources 3. acquire information 4. use information 5. presentation 6. evaluation assessment teacher manual 24
25
1. Task What are the main question and (leading) sub-questions of the research? 25
26
Which resources should the students use for their research
26
27
3. Acquire and select information
Students acquire and select information for their research 27
28
Students use the information to answer sub-questions and main question
4. Use information Students use the information to answer sub-questions and main question 28
29
Students present the results of their research
4. Presentation Students present the results of their research 29
30
Students evaluate process and results of their research
6. Evaluation Students evaluate process and results of their research 30

Definition learning trajectory:
A learning trajectory is a reasoned structure set of learning goals and content. 31
32
Learning trajectory Level 1 …… Level 4 1.Task 2. Resources
3. Acquire and select information 4. Use information 5. Presentation 6. Evaluation
33
Learning trajectory Level 1 …… Level 4
1.Task Students research given main- and sub-questions Students research their own main- and subquestions 2. Resources Students use given resources Students have to look autonomously for resources Students acquire and select information autonomously 3. Acquire and select information Students acquire and select information using a given and detailed plan of action
34
Learning trajectory Level 1 …… Level 4
1.Use of information Students use information using a given and detailed plan of action or scheme Students use information autonomously 2. Presentation Students present the results of their reseach using a detailed plan of action Students present the results of their research autonomously for resources in a way that suits the task and/or the target group Students evaluate process and results of their research autonomously 3. Evaluation Students evaluate process and results of their research using a given and detailed plan of action
