Make sure that every source you use is properly cited using MLA, either within or at the end of your paper. For our papers you will put your citations on a separate “Works Cited” page at the end of the paper.

Once you have cited a writer or source (for example, write “In Harlan Coben’s ‘The Undercover Parent’,” )you may begin to use parentheses to indicate a citation within the paper.

4. How do I use the parenthetical citations within the paper?
After you have cited the article and author once, you may begin to use parentheses at the end of each citation.
For example: Coben says that his friends’ daughter was caught sleeping with her drug dealer (Coben, p. 2) or (Coben, paragraph 12).

5. How do I quote an article or author?
Coben claims, “Trust is one thing, but surrendering parental responsibility that allows the entire world access to your home borders on negligence.” (Coben, paragraph 6).
