7. COURSES AND ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
32 level 3 courses on offer (A levels, BTECs and applied)
Six 9-4 grades from six separate subjects
Five 9-4 grades (limited access)
Each subject has their own entry requirement and Average Point Score linked to them for guidance (see page 8 in handbook)

8. The GCSE Average Points Score (APS)
ALL of your son/daughters GCSE courses count towards the GCSE Average Points Score (APS)
All GCSE grades achieved are added together and divided by the total number to give an APS.
The APS acts as a guide to the students skill and knowledge level.
Every course in the sixth form has an APS guideline as an entry requirements alongside the grade requirements.
The higher the grades achieved in ALL GCSE courses, the higher the APS will be, giving access to more courses in the sixth form.
A common statement from students is that a certain course at GCSE isn't important to them. E.g “Geography at GCSE doesn’t matter as I don’t want to study that at A Level”. BUT – the grade will influence the APS and could restrict your entry to certain courses.

Please note that sixth form students are not guaranteed a place on the school bus.  A concession is sold when there is a spare seat on a non-registered route and are sold on a first come first served basis so please aim to have your form completed and payment made by around mid-August. A concession will be honoured to the end of the term in which it is purchased.
