1 Week 3: Volume Mrs.Brown

2 Day 1: Volume of Rectangular Prisms
Formula: V=lwh Volume is always Measured in Cubic Measurements. (exponent of 3)

3 Examples with Fractions and D Decimals:
V=(4.5)(3.2(4.2) V= 𝑐𝑚 3 V= 1 2 𝑥 1 2 𝑥 1 4 V= 𝑖𝑛 3

4 Video and Pracice Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJt4RgvDyoI
Worksheet All practice work may be done with your partner and with a calculator. If you are not behaving and focusing on the math, this privilege may be taken away by the teacher.

5 Day 2: Volume of Triangular Prism
Formula: V= ½ lwh V= ½ (4)(6)(3.5) 42 𝑖𝑛 3

6 Example: L=8 W=5 H=9 We do not need 10 to solve for the volume in this question. V= ½ (8)(5)(9) V= 180 𝑐𝑚 3

7 Video and Practice Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8YLrKTer5M
P645 ( 10-17) All practice work may be done with your partner and with a calculator. If you are not behaving and focusing on the math, this privilege may be taken away by the teacher.

8 Day 3: Volume of a Pyramid
Rectangular Pyramid Formula: V= 1/3 lwh

9 Volume of a Square Pyramid
Remember that the base will have the same length and width because it is a square. What is the volume of a square pyramid in which the base has 4 in sides, and it is 12 in tall? V= 1/3 (4)(4)(12) = 1/3(192) =64 𝑖𝑛 3

10 Volume of a Pyramid Triangular Pyramid : Because of the base being a triangle, you have to multiply is by ½ as well. Formula: V= 1/3 (1/2) lwh V= 1/3(1/2)(12)(12)(8) 1/6(12)(12)(8) 2(12)(8) 192 𝑚 3

11 Video and Practice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6nUNTfiK5Y
P657 (1-8) All practice work may be done with your partner and with a calculator. If you are not behaving and focusing on the math, this privilege may be taken away by the teacher.

12 Day 4: Solving with Volume
Watch this video before you begin to review the overall concept of Volume: When given the Volume and two dimensions, you can find the missing dimension.

13 Find the height. V= 192 𝑖𝑛 3 What is the height? 192=(8)(4)h 192=32h

14 Video and Practice https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9nFomYsO4zA
Practice: Worksheet All practice work may be done with your partner and with a calculator. If you are not behaving and focusing on the math, this privilege may be taken away by the teacher.

15 Day 5: Quiz Use your packet of notes to complete the quiz.
You have 40 minutes. There are NO RETAKES for open note quizzes!!!
