2 2 Printer Cleaning Instructions u For the P720 to Operate Properly It Is Important to Keep the Printer Clean and Free From Dust u Perform Routine Cleaning Printer LCD

3 3 Frequency of Cleaning The Cleaning Frequency for the Printer Depends on the Environment. Here is a recommended practice. Recommendations: u Change the Cleaning Roller (see slide 3) & Clean Printer using a Cleaning Card (see slide 4), EVERYTIME YOU CHANGE THE PRINT RIBBON u Change the Cleaning Roller Whenever it looks black – Its Dirty (see slide 3) Cleaning Swab Cleaning Card

4 4 How to Change a Cleaning Roller u A New or Good Cleaning Roller Is Beige in Color (Like Fresh Masking Tape). u When the Roller Gets Dirty the Color Will Change to Brown or Black u Remove the Cleaning Cartridge From the Printer by Gently Lifting Handle up and Removing the Cartridge to Replace Adhesive Roller u An operator could renew a cleaning cartridge with double-backed 3 inch masking tape. 5 5 How to Clean Printer Using a Cleaning Card 1. Remove the Print Ribbon & ReLatch the Print Head. 2. Open Both Leaves of the Laminator (see Slide 5). 3. Remove all cards from the Card Hopper 4. Press the Menu Next Button 4 times to see Cleaning Menu displayed on the LCD. 5. Press Clear Select. The LCD screen should display Cleaning P720. 6. Insert a Cleaning Card in the Card Hopper as shown. 7. Press the Clear Select Button again. At this point, the printer should start the cleaning process. 8. The card cleaning card will drop in the Reject hopper after the cleaning operation is completed. Cleaning Card The Cleaning Card Must Be Used IMMEDIATELY Upon Opening to Prevent the Alcohol From Evaporating If the Ribbon Is Still in the Printer, Remove Ribbon Message Will Be Displayed at step 7. Remove the ribbon and Press Clear Select to start the cleaning process.

7 7 How to Clean Laminator Using a Cleaning Card 1.This procedure must be done when laminator is cool. ( Recommend procedure at first power up of the day) 2.Remove the Cassettes & Remove the remaining patches. 3.Make sure both Leafs of the Laminator are OPEN 4. Remove all cards from the Input Card Hopper. 5.Insert the cleaning card in the Input Card Hopper. 6.Turn on the Power switch. The Cleaning Card Must Be Used IMMEDIATELY Upon Opening to Prevent the Alcohol From Evaporating

8 8 How to Clean Laminator Using a Cleaning Card 7. Press the Menu Next Button 4 times to see Cleaning Menu displayed on the LCD. 8. Press Clear Select. The LCD screen should display Cleaning P720. 9. Press the Next button 3 Times and you should see Cleaning Laminator. 7. Press the Clear Select Button. 8. Message: OPEN BOTH LEAFS 9. Press the Clear Select Button again. At this point, the printer should start the Laminator cleaning process 10. The card cleaning card will drop in the Output hopper after the cleaning operation is completed. Message: Close Both Leafs 11. Install Cassettes and resume normal operations Cleaning Card

9 9 How to Manually Clean the Print Head u Open the Print Head Mechanism u Gently Rub an Alcohol- Moistened Swab Across the Print Head From the Back of the Printer to the Front Perform this procedure occasionally, as needed

10 10 ERROR MESSAGESYSTEM / DESCRIPTIONSREASON / SOLUTIONS Cards are not leaving card feeder 1) Check to make sure cards are properly positioned in feeder (remove cards and reload cards) 2) Check card gate adjustment 3) Check cleaning roller assembly is properly installed 4) Check gate opening plate alignment 5) Check to see that both rollers in feeder are not free spinning Cassette is not being detected 1. Make sure the enclosure cover is properly closed 2. Check the guide pins on the cassette Finished card has laminate fold on edge of card 1. Remove cassette from laminator, checked to see if the laminate is being folded as it leaves the cassette 2. Check for stuck patch

11 11 ERROR MESSAGESYSTEM / DESCRIPTIONSREASON / SOLUTIONS Laminate cassette not fitting properly into printer rear plate 1) Look to see if cassette guide pins are damaged 2) Check alignment of drive block on rear plate Laminate patches wrapping around feed rollers in cassettes 1. Check orientation of laminate in cassette 2. Check for excessive static in media (replace media) Light printing on card even after readjusting printhead color settings 1. Call the Technical Support Help Desk Patch skew (Consistent) 1. Check laminate installed in cassette correctly 2. Check laminate roll for core distortion 3. Be sure the leaf is closed properly Patch skew (Random) 1. Check laminate installed in cassette properly 2. Check laminate roll for core distortion

12 12 ERROR MESSAGESYSTEM / DESCRIPTIONSREASON / SOLUTIONS Patches are not exiting cassette into drive system 1) Check to see if laminate is properly installed in cassette 2) Be sure the media is seated in proper recess ridges of cassette 3) Check that the drive block on rear panel is properly aligned with cassette drive
