Do Now Heading: When Forces and Kinematics Collide
Pick up a practice problem set and a life without friction story board from the front table Write your homework in the homework log The Forces Common Assessment will be next week Tuesday! You will not be able to use your forces book on this assessment.
2
Your Life Without Friction
Imagine you lived in a world without friction… Your life would be so much more challenging. Everyday tasks would become tremendously difficult. I want you to think about what you do every day. Using the organizer, tell the story about how your life would become more difficult without friction
3
Group Share Each person should have a chance to talk about how their life would be changed without friction. Make sure to take notes as each person in the group shares You are not to just copy their paper, you must listen to their story. Once everyone shares their story, as a group come up with 3 tasks that you think would be the most difficult to do without friction.

A 75 kg man with an initial velocity of vi = 0 m/s is on a skateboard
A 75 kg man with an initial velocity of vi = 0 m/s is on a skateboard. The man is then pushed to the right with a force of 15 N. After 10 seconds, what is the man’s final velocity?
6
A 1 kg box is pushed across the floor with a force of 10 N to the left
A 1 kg box is pushed across the floor with a force of 10 N to the left. The box also experiences a force of friction of 3 N. The box’s initial velocity is 0 m/s. What is the box’s final velocity after 10 seconds?
