2 Telecommuting is when you work from home  
The worker may occasionally enter the office to attend meetings and touch base with the employer They mostly stay connected via and telephone 

3 4.3 million people work at home at least half time
Telecommuter population has grown 11.8% largest year growth since 2008  40% more workplace businesses offer this then they did five years ago  Some of the occupations that offer this is the Tutoring, Architecture, and Legal occupations

5 India, Mexico and Indonesia highest percent of workers
Tutoring, Medical Writing, Editing 79% Telecommute once a week 

6 1972 First coined by Jack Nilles in 1972, when he was working for NASA 1979 In 1979, Frank Schiff coined "flexplace", which was an article on telecommuting  the 1990's and 2000's In the 1990's and 2000's, it began to grew popular September 20, 1994 was named “Employee Telecommuting Day”

The national average for cities in the U.S. is for a workforce to be made up of about 2.9% telecommuters  Of large metropolitan areas, the highest concentration of such workers is;   Austin, Texas 5.4% Denver 5.1% Tampa 4.8%  The cities or towns with the highest concentration of telecommuters overall are  Boulder, Colorado 8.5%  Corvallis, Oregon 6.9% Raleigh, North Carolina 6.2%

Reduces Carbon Emissions Telecommuting has the same impact on air quality of planting a forest of trees

Reduces turnover  Improves workplace morale Cost effective and eco-friendly
