Status (seismic industry) Nov 2012
> 1000 IBM TS1120 drives (worldwide – offshore , only) > JA cartridges in our industry ( ) (+ data processing, data management, Petrobanks, Oil Companies, ….) T On or after the effective date of withdrawal, you can no longer order Effective December 28, 2012, IBM will withdraw from marketing TS1120. this product directly from IBM . IBM TS1150 GA (General Availabilty): months from now?

IBM 3592 Nov 2012 The IBM 3592 is a series of tape drives and corresponding magnetic tape data storage media formats. The first drive, having the IBM product number 3592, was introduced under the nickname Jaguar. The next drive was the TS1120, also having the nickname Jaguar. As of Nov, 2012, the latest and current drive is the TS1140. As of Nov, 2012, 4 drive generations and about 10 tape media products, see next slide. The 3592 line of tape drives and media is not compatible with the IBM 3590 series of drives, which it superseded.

Next standard in the seismic industry
Nov 2012 Next standard in the seismic industry

Current Status Due to lack of true emulation highlighted in the last meeting CGG together with IBM are testing TS1130 (E06) that is forced to E05 density JA 500GB and also reporting itself as E05 Lab testing has shown promisng results. Field Evaluations soon to be scheduled This may allow the industry time to evaluate TS1150 (E08) CGG and IBM are investigating ambient vibration on seismic vessels to see if there are issues that may affect EO7 and E08.
9
Next Standard? Some companies have evaluated and some are already using E07 Selecting the next standard whether E07 or E08 not clear before: Evaluations if any vibration issues are relevant Lab and field testing of E08 completed If E08 with native media in short tape form available.
