1 5th Grade class news 9/11-9/15 Helpful Hint From Mrs. Johnson: Math: Please encourage your child to use their BEST handwriting when completing their work. I have had a hard time reading students’ writing. I want to make sure I can give them credit for the amazing work they are doing. All procedures (Celebrate 8, Kagan structures, checking agendas, etc.) will be implemented into our class setting since we have been practicing for a few weeks.😎 Test on Monday...will be able to use your "yellow" Decimal Study Guide (reminder...I am going to take your Study Guide for a daily math grade!) Monday...will explain "mini" task. Tuesday...Complete our math performance "Mini-task", "Behind the Scenes“. We will dig deeper with multi-digit (whole number) multiplication. Social Studies: New Rotation (5B) “Pre-civil War“ Missouri Compromise Uncle Tom’s Cabin Compromise of 1850 Brook’s attack on Sumner Kansas-Nebraska Act John Brown’s Raid Dred Scott case Test Friday the 22nd (It is highly recommended that they bring the study guide back to class on this day!)  Student work is text dependent and supports the E.L.A. standards. E.L.A: E.L.A Homework: Grammar Nouns Adjectives and Adverbs I can… Write a narrative piece of text. using prepositions and adjectives. Use correct capitalization, punctuation, and spelling. Close read for comprehension. Decode vocabulary words. Summarize text. Determine the main idea and support it with details. Analyze the character, setting and plot. Generate inferences Science New rotation (5A) Stars, Moon, and Planets 5th Grade Science Fair (required), Thursday, September 21...information has already been sent home Thank You, Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Chaparro
