Three-year cumulative incidence of a gout diagnosis presented by level of kidney function and sex. The 3-year cumulative incidence of diagnosed gout was higher across the five groups of older adults defined by progressively lower levels of eGFR for both men and women (P for trend <0.001); however, persons on chronic dialysis had a lower incidence of gout than those with a moderate reduction in kidney function.
