5. Your role in society: (From Yesterday)
King: Maya King of City State – Monitor your city-state. Command your warriors to attack when needed.
Jack: Noble of City-State – Collect taxes from the hunter, farmer, and artisan. Collect 1 letter from the hunter or farmer every two minutes.
Ace: Artisan of City-State – Create the designated item out of educational clay. Will also need to trade with other artisans
8 and 9: Hunter for City-State – Create a deer from the blocks. Be sure and follow directions in the envelope.
6: Farmer for City-State – Spell MAIZE out of the blocks. Be sure and follow directions in the envelope.
4: Warrior for City-State – When called to war, engage in battles of Rock, Paper, Scissors with the other warriors. Best of three battles. Winner gets to take a letter from a farmer or a deer from a hunter.

7. Maya Civilization Notes (from yesterday):
Maya lived on Yucatan peninsula - flat, warm climate, rain forest region.  LOTS OF FARMING!
Lots of great farmland and animals 
Can feed large population 
Civilization lived in independent City–States (like ancient Greece and Italy in Middle Ages)
City-states traded with each other (usually artisans made trade goods).
Complete the population pyramid in each “city-state” on your Comp book notes page.

Astronomy
**The Mayans studied astronomy.
**By tracking movements of stars, they created a 365 day calendar. By this calendar, they knew when to plant their crops.
Math
Had a counting system.
**Invented a symbol for zero (0). (were the first to do this!!)
Writing system (one of the earliest civilizations to have one)
Large cities and population – had enough agriculture to feed large cities
