Sycamore Class Homework Friday 3rd May Due in – Thursday 9th May Choose two :- If you would like to contact us to ask about homework or discuss any other concerns, then please ring the office to make an appointment or leave a message with the office and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Thank you in advance for your support, Mrs A Thompson and Mrs Walmsley In our Literacy lessons, we have been reading The Invention of Hugo Cabret. Can you create a character description of Hugo? What sort of character is he? What does he look like? What are his characteristics? (is he determined? intelligent?). Try to use expanded noun phrases and a variety of sentence openers in your character description. Notes Our P.E day is on a Wednesday so please can you ensure that you have your P.E kit in school for this day. We have swimming lessons on a Thursday so please bring your swimming kits into school. Can you put our new spelling words into sentences? Choose 5 words to write 5 sentences. Topic Project Our topic this half term is called, ‘Inventors and Inventions’. For your project you could design and make your very own object (a toy, a game or whatever you choose!) using any materials that you like. As part of our History lessons we will be learning about the early Islamic civilisation of Baghdad so you could also create a presentation about the different items that were invented in this period of history. The due date for all project homework will be Thursday 13th June. Find a book You like and read it. Simple  Please write in your reading diaries. This week we have been learning about area in our Maths lessons. Can you draw your own regular shapes or rectilinear shapes and find the area of these? (remember rectilinear shapes are where all of the edges meet at right angles and we find the area by multiplying the length by the width). If you want a further challenge, you could also come up with your own problem solving questions for someone to work out at school. Spellings (Test on Friday) witch to which too are two our threw through Make your homework DOJO worthy!
