AFS is broken down into: Divisions→ Chapters→ Student Subunits→ Sections IU: -Located in the North-Central Division -Indiana Chapter -Purdue has existing Student Subunit -And now, thanks to you all, IU has one too!

4 National AFS Membership Benefits
Membership in the American Fisheries Society yields many benefits whether you are a student or professional, early or late in your career. 5 Goals of IU builds on the traditions and history established at IU from famous ichthyologists such as David Starr Jordan and Carl Eigenmann, by providing students interested in water resources an outlet to become involved. The club is focused on Fisheries Management and Conservation. is a collective of students from various backgrounds and majors who are interested in applying their diverse skills towards promoting clean water resources management and policy making from numerous angles. Future projects include: Wetland Restoration (Long-term) & Local Watershed Stream Surveys.

6 AFS @ IU Composition Composed of those members in good standing
Governed by President, Vice-President, Past-President, and Secretary-Treasurer Officers must be voted into their respective positions through an election process Detailed description of officer duties will be provided to those who are interested Divided into separate Committees: The Executive Committee: Consists of elected officers holding the above mentioned positions In charge of general Club affairs Authorized to act on behalf of the Unit between annual meetings

Recruitment and Publicity Fundraising Project Committees: Wetlands Restoration: Involved in planning, designing and implementing the long-term goal of conducting a wetland restoration project. Stream Survey: involved with the planning, designing, collection and analysis of the short-term goal of conducting a stream survey to study water quality. OPEN: we are very open to new ideas for any potential project you think IU could help tackle Public Outreach and Teaching Technology Conservation and Sustainability Networking May need subcommittees within

Anyone can join...you don’t even have to like fish! How do I join? Have a general interest in Fisheries Management/Conservation Fill out the appropriate membership paperwork (takes maybe 5 min) Pay dues (show me the money!) How do I remain in good standing? Have an active, forward reaching attitude towards club goals 50% attendance at meeting
