Sentences I would like you to read your sentences to your group.
Your group will be listening for grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation errors. Ex: My phone has a lot of memory. Is this sentence correct? No! Although this sentence makes sense, we learned that memories are things from your past that you remember.
10
Warm up: Secrets I would like for you to write a “secret” about yourself, but you have to use used to in your secret. Ex. I used to run 4 miles every day. I will collect your “secrets” and give you someone else’s “secret.” You need to find the person who wrote the secret, but do not ask him or her: Did you use to run 4 miles a day? Instead, you must ask questions like: Did you like to exercise? Did you have a daily routine?
11
Example secret My sister and I used to steal packets of sugar from the store after school. What kinds of questions can you ask? Do you have a sister? Were you a good child? Did you use to do anything fun after school?

We used to have a good time.= We would have a great time. Be careful! Would can’t be used for past situations. (non-actions)
15
I used to love the power rangers.
What is my main verb? Love. Is love an action verb? No. We can’t use would + love I would love cake? What is the meaning of this?

Telling stories When telling a story, you can begin the first sentence with used to, but then, use would give more details or examples. Do not begin a story with would.
