Electron Beam Pulsing Slade J. Jokela, I.V. Veryovkin, A.V. Zinovev
2
Beam Parameters Approximately 50 to 100 μm diameter 3 ms Pulse
According to factory specifications 3 ms Pulse Currents from 0.01 to 30.0 μA Possibly only 8 μA while pulsed 611 μC/cm2 per pulse (100 μm beam radius)
3
Charge Compensation During normal measurement, more electrons are coming off the sample than are going in Positive charging of sample Charge is compensated by applying a +50V bias to the sample, suppressing secondary electron emission Number of charge compensating pulses is equal to -1, where is gain. I need to confirm that this is actually working
4
Results Still testing, but looks promising
8 μA is similar to unpulsed operation Change in Keithley Voltage Supply (kV scale to V scale)
5
Other Work Received MCP from Qing for CO2 snow cleaning
Aiming for attempt this week Will finish calibrating pulsed-beam timings and aim to have measurements on new Al2O3 films this week. (Complete series next week).
