Problem Sets – 10% *1st marking period includes Khan Academy Assignment

Grading/Assignments vs. Problem Sets
Graded homework assignments on material already taught in class. Half the points are attributed to effort Half the points are attributed to accuracy Occur roughly every 2 weeks, and students have more than 1 day to complete them. vs.

Questions from the videos Questions from problems already completed and checked in class. 15 questions in 10 minutes

Curricular Highlights
Write and solve linear equations and inequalities Write and graph two-variable equations and inequalities Write and solve linear systems of equations Polynomial operations Graphing and Factoring Quadratic Equations.

Keystone Exam All Algebra 1 students will take the State Keystone Exam in May Advance/Proficient = will never need to take Algebra Keystone again. Basic/Below Basic = Student will retake the Keystone next year (summer test is optional)

Calculators Buy a TI-84 Plus or TI 84 Plus C Graphing Calculator if possible. Students can borrow school version in class, but cannot sign them out for take-home use
