2 Unit 8 Vocabulary Analyze: examine in detail, typically for purposes of explanation and interpretation. Compose: write or create; to constitute, make up. Correlate: have a mutual relationship or connection. Differentiate: recognize or ascertain what makes things different; identify differences between two things or people. Engage: occupy, attract, or involve someone’s attention or interest.

Emerge: become apparent, important, or prominent. Infer: deduce or conclude information from evidence and reasoning rather than from explicit statements. Omit: leave out or exclude someone or something, either intentionally or forgetfully. Redundant: not or no longer needed or useful. Relevant: closely connected or appropriate to the matter at hand.

Minute: infinitely or immeasurably small. Evident: plain or obvious; clearly seen or understood. Scarce: deficient in quantity or number compared with the demand. Apparent: clearly revealed to the mind or the senses or judgment. Concept: an abstract or general idea inferred from specific instances.

Commission: a special group delegated to consider some matter. Theory: a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the world. Earnest: characterized by a firm, humorless belief in one’s opinions. Venture: proceed somewhere despite the risk of possible danger. Manifest: reveal its presence or make an appearance.
