Tournament Day… Rule Differences Partners Other Important Differences
Coaches will evaluate and make best pairs with a goal of winning Evaluation is based on: (practice effort, attitude, competitiveness, ability, cohesiveness, side preference). In many cases, partners will switch between tournaments. Hand setting is called very tightly. Cannot open-hand serve receive or open-hand a free ball unless absolutely perfect. No tipping (rolls and knuckles are not tipping). short court (26.3 instead of 30) outdoor ball (BRVA will practice with all three types). Other Important Differences Coaches can only coach on side changes (multiples of 7 or 5) and timeouts. Parents cannot coach, cannot talk to refs, cannot talk to kids, cannot yell "score, score“; basically can only cheer on their teams (heavily enforced at larger tournaments). Tournament Day…
