2 Timetable Maths and Literacy lessons take place every day
In Year 3, the children work within class in both mixed and ability groups for Maths and Literacy. These groups are based on teacher assessments of each child, as well as more formal end of year assessments. Groups are fluid and teachers assess the groups frequently. Children have a sports coach once a week for outdoor PE on Tuesdays and also have another PE session every Tuesday with the class teacher. After half term this will change to a Monday afternoon. The weekly timetable also includes RE, Guided Reading, Spelling, ICT and IPC.

IPC Units this term engaging exciting The IPC is a comprehensive, thematic, creative curriculum with a clear process of learning and with specific learning goals for subjects which include science, history, geography, art, music and design technology. It also includes an important element for international mindedness and for personal learning. relevant creative

5 Recorders Every Wednesday after half term!
The children will be taught in groups of 15 by Mrs Judith Statham. This will culminate in a concert performed by the children. Date to be confirmed. A letter will be sent to you shortly detailing the cost of the recorder.

6 OCEAN MATHS An exciting way to approach homework through games as well as fun activities. Five Ocean homework tasks will be set per term in line with the concept taught that week. Pack for children, to be returned the following week Informative and active workshops, one per term covering different aspects of Maths. 3B Wednesday 2nd November in the hall.

8 International Primary curriculum IPC
Our first IPC unit this term is called ‘How Humans Work’ This unit looks at the importance of a balanced diet an how the body functions. They will develop investigative skills and make and record their own observations.

9 Reading It is an expectation that all children read regularly at home.
Reading diary – To be signed at home and brought into school every day. It will be signed each week by the teacher or TA. Guided reading – daily reading session in class.

10 Homework In Year 3, homework is given out on a Friday and should be handed in Wednesday at the latest. Children have an orange homework book to record in. Spellings will be given weekly or fortnightly. A variety of tasks will be set. They can practise the rules in their yellow spelling books. Reading and Times tables are expected to be learned in addition to the Friday homework.

11 Other information Any questions?
PE kits – polo shirt in house colours; navy shorts; navy jogging trousers, trainers for outdoors games and plain navy sweatshirt; black plimsolls; no earrings on PE days. It should be in a drawstring bag with a school logo. School uniform, coats, bags etc to be labelled with the name and class of your child. Home/School Agreement – Please sign and return! End the day routine for dismissing children Class assemblies; Friday 21st October and we will lead the church service at Christmas Thursday 15th December. Appointments with teachers through the office Trip to the Science Museum will take place this term . Details to follow shortly! Any questions?
